

The Marv Nissel Band is a family band from New Ulm, Minnesota. They have a unique style which includes a variety of German, Polish, and country-flavored polka music. Traveling every weekend, the band averages one hundred performances a year; playing many ballrooms, weddings, anniversaries, Octoberfests, and celebrations. The band consists of Marv on concertina; wife Carol on keyboard bass piano and vocals; daughter Lori on trumpet, fiddle, concertina, drums, and vocals; and good friend Mike Moldan on drums and trumpet. Son-in-law, Craig Ebel, also helps the band out on drums. Craig is the host of "It's Polka Time!" radio shows heard across the upper Midwest and on the Internet. In 1987, this talented band was voted the Number One Variety Band for the State of Minnesota, by the Minnesota Ballroom Operators Association (MBOA). They have also been recognized by the MBOA in 1981, 1982, 1983, 1987, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, and 2002 for their outstanding contribution to the ballroom industry for having a band of neat appearance and providing a wholesome form of entertainment and top quality dance music. In 1988, Carol Nissel was selected as one of the top five vocalists from the State of Minnesota by the Minnesota Music Academy in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
